Auto Repair Shop Vehicle Movement vs Computer Performance

The movement of vehicles in an auto repair shop is very similar to the way information is processed by a computer. Inside the auto repair shop are bays and outside there is a parking area. Employees move vehicles from the parking area into the shop where they are worked on. When the work is done they’re returned to the parking area. In similar fashion a computer has memory where work is performed and hard disk space where data is stored. The processor moves information into memory and modifies it. Then it’s written to the disk. Following are illustrations of auto repair shop vehicle movement, computer processing and similarities between the two:

  1. Auto Repair Shop Vehicle Movement Efficiency – Moving vehicles in and out of an auto repair shop is part of the automotive repair process. Vehicles must be moved into the shop to be worked on then moved out of the shop when they’re done … Read More >>
  2. Three Components of Computer Performance – Three components of a computer that impact performance are random access memory (RAM), processor speed (CPU) and available hard drive space. All information updates are performed in memory by the processor … Read More >>
  3. Inefficiencies and Performance – The process of moving vehicles into an automotive repair shop – working on them – then returning them to the parking lot is very similar to the way a computer works. A computer processor moves information from disk into memory – modifies it – then writes it back to disk … Read More >>
