How To Speed Up A Slow Computer At Your Auto Repair Shop Or Tire Store

ComputerThe computers at your auto repair shop or tire shop are important parts of your business.

Computers that are slow can cut into the productivity of your business.  Additionally if computers are not maintained, they will need to be replaced more often, costing your business money.

To help you get the most out of your computers, here are some ways to speed up a show computer at your auto repair shop or tire store.

1. Add More Memory: Adding more random access memory (RAM) is one way to speed up your computer.  RAM is the part of the computer that allows it access, process and run a program.  RAM is easy to install yourself.  However many computer stores will install it for you if needed.

2. Free Up Disk Space: If you have a Windows computer, Microsoft suggests freeing up the disk space.  To do this, you will need to remove temporary Internet files, remove downloaded program, empty the Recycle Bin and remove Windows components that you don’t use.  You can find more information about this on the Microsoft site.

3. Removed Unused Programs: Your computer should only have programs that are necessary for business use.  Auto repair shop software and tire store management software are a must.  Computer games and other unnecessary programs must go.

4. Defragment Your Hard Drive: If you have a Windows computer, you can defragment your hard drive to make it run faster.  This will put the things stored on your computer’s hard drive in proper order so it can be accessed faster.  Microsoft’s website has information that will teach you how to defragment your hard drive.

5. Have A Clean Desktop: If you have a lot of files on the main screen of your computer, these files need to be stored in the “documents” folder.  Keeping files on the main screen, also known as the desktop, slows down your computer.  If it’s taking a long time for your computer to start up, you may have too many files on your desktop.

Following these five tips will help make the computer at your auto repair shop or tire store run faster.  If you’re still having trouble, you may want to consult with a computer repair technician.
